چکیده

Recent years saw a rise in the application of bonding techniques engineering industry. This fact is due to various advantages this technique when compared traditional joining methods, such as riveting or bolting. The growth methods demands faster and more powerful tools analyze behavior products. For that reason, adhesive joints have been subject intensive investigation over past few years. Recently, fracture mechanics based approach emerged with great potential evaluate joint behavior, called Intesity Singular Stress Fields (ISSF), similar Intensity Factor (SIF) concept. However, it allows study multi-material corners does not require an initial crack. was yet tested meshless methods. present work intends fill gap, resorting Radial Point Interpolation Method (RPIM). With purpose, four different overlap lengths (LO) bonded brittle were studied. interface corner's stresses also evaluated. predicted strengths experimental data assess accuracy applied In conclusion, ISSF criterion proved be applicable namely RPIM.

Fracture Analysis of Adhesive Joints Using Intrinsic Cohesive Zone Models

In this paper Cohesive Zone Model (CZM) concepts are applied in order to study mode I fracture in a pre-cracked bonded Double Cantilever Beam (DCB) specimen. A cohesive surface element is implemented in a Finite Element commercial code using intrinsic cohesive zone models: exponential, bilinear and trapezoidal traction-separation laws. The sensitivity of cohesive zone parameters in predicting t...

Singularity Robust Manipulator Control using Virtual Joints

A singularity handling method is proposed in this paper. It is done by introducing virtual redundant joints into the Jacobian matrix to maintain the rank of the Jacobian matrix when singularity occurs. These additional joints do not exist physically. Therefore, although mathematically stable, the manipulator still can not perform tasks in the degenerate direction(s). This method is comparativel...

non-linear analysis of adhesive joints in composite structures

this paper presents a novel formulation and numerical solutions for adhesively bonded composite joints with non-linear (softening) adhesive behaviour. the presented approach has the capability of choosing arbitrary loadings and boundary conditions. in this model adherends are orthotropic laminates that obey classical lamination theory. the stacking sequences can be either symmetric or asymmetri...

Analysis of Atomistic/continuum Coupling Using Meshless Methods

In this paper, we compare three interpolation functions in a discretized continuum when used in coupled dynamic atomistic-to-continuum simulations. The focus is on assessing the ability of the discrete continuum model to capture and accurately represent transient effects, namely a travelling longitudinal wave, through both the mixed atomistic-continuum interface and the non-uniform continuum me...
